Lasik is a 2-step procedure: the first step consists in lifting a thin layer of the cornea
(surface of the eye) with an instrument called a "keratome"and creating a flap. In the second
step the laser is applied and reshapes the underlying bed of the cornea.
LaservueSafeFlapLasik™ reliably creates a smooth flap of 100 microns in thickness (4 thousandths
of an inch).Other techniques create thicker flaps of 160 to 180 microns with much less predictability.
This, combined with the tissues saving programs of our state-of -the-art lasers, preserves more corneal
tissue than ever before.
Since Lasik only lifts and does not remove the surface layer of the eye, both scarring and infection
have essentially been eliminated.
At Laservue, all our patients benefit from SafeFlapLasik™ technology.
