The Laservue Network
For your health and safety, it is very important that your care before and after LASIK surgery be arranged in advance. Beware of clinics that offer to book your surgery over the phone without arranging any follow-up care! These clinics usually have a 'you're on your own' policy for their patients, i.e. should a problem arise, it's up to you to find a competent doctor who is willing to follow you close to home. Many of our referring doctors have been frustrated by patients who have gone elsewhere for surgery and show up unannounced on their doorstep with a post-operative problem. Please e-mail or give us a call and we will arrange for a pre-operative evaluation with an eye doctor in your area in order to determine that you are a candidate for LASIK surgery. In most areas in the North East, an eye Doctor with specific Laservue certification is available. Remember that up to 10% of patients are not candidates for various reasons, and it is sometimes possible that a patient on the 'borderline' can only be given a final answer only once they have been examined by us in Montreal.
Laservue travel and accomodation information
Many of our patients are not familiar with Canada, and wonder whether it is difficult to travel to Montreal. In fact, Montreal is 60 miles from the U.S. border, and easily accessible by air or road.
By air, most major U.S. cities have direct connections to Montreal, which is serviced by all of the major airlines: Delta, American, NorthWest, USAir, Continental, Air Canada. Flying time is less than 1 hour from Boston, New York or Philadelphia, 2 hours from Atlanta or Detroit, or Cincinnati, 2 1/2 hours from Chicago, 3 hours from Miami. U.S. flights arrive to Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, which is a 15 minute cab ride from Laservue.
By road, Interstates 87, 89 & 91 all lead to highways which connect directly to Montreal. Laservue is situated less than 1 mile from the major highway which bisects Montreal.
Detailed travel information will be provided to you when you book your surgery in the Laservue Excimer Laser Surgery Pamphlet.
